Goats in Sonoma CA
When deciding on which breed out of many lovely breeds of goats out there to add to our family & farm, the decision was made to add the wonderful Nigerian Dwarf Goat! Why you may ask?:-) Great question!

  • Their size
They are a smaller breed of goat, ranging from 17-23 inches in height and with the ideal weight of about 75lbs. So a breed that is easier to handle and cost less to feed!:-)

  • Their Milk!
This actually was the top reason why we picked this breed! You see, unfortunately I am allergic to cow’s milk and my husband can’t stand the taste of goat’s milk! So through my research this was the perfect solution for the both of us! This delightful breed is known for their non-goaty tasting milk! It is soooo rich and creamy and sweet with no “musky” aftertaste, (as my husband would call it. Ha!). Their milk makes INCREDIBLE cheese, kefir, ice cream...and so much more!

  • Their FANTASTIC nature!
Oh my goodness, these guys are SO MUCH FUN! So dog like in their personalities! Always wanting attention, affection and to be with you! They are characters for sure! Keeping us entertained constantly! They have been dubbed “happy pills” & “like potato chips” because you can’t help but be happy when you are in their presence & you can’t have just one! Both for the fact that you must have two as they are herd animals, but mainly for the fact that once you have one, you just want more and more!!!:-)

Here at Wildflower Moon Farm, we annually test our herd for JOHNES, CAE, CL & Brucellosis. We also feed organically and treat holistically. We work hard to breed healthy, happy, ADGA Registered, show quality Nigerian Dwarf goats that also make wonderful loving pets and great milk producers!

Oh herd certainly is Loved & Cherished by us! And the abundance that they give us in return, we are so very grateful for!
